A new branch: The Writing Swap

Our goal as a community service project has always been to build and give back to the community by making education more accessible. In order to further our mission, we have expanded to connect like-minded students through the written word.

What is the Writing Swap?

The Writing Swap will be a free, 12 submission per month program. Each month writers can submit a work to be peer-reviewed by someone else in the program. When submissions are requested, students are allowed to opt in or out depending on their schedules. Our swaps are completely anonymous over the course of the 12 submissions. At the end, students will be asked if they'd like to share their identity to all the other writers who have seen their works. We hope this will encourage students to build bridges with people who share their interests, while simultaneously giving them space to grow and learn as writers. Students are allowed--and encouraged--to reapply once their 12 submission cycle ends.

The application process

Once an application is submitted, the student should receive a status update on their application within a week. If accepted, a second form will be sent where the student will submit their writing to be reviewed, along with information about the piece. All applications are rolling; if accepted, submissions begin on the first of the next month.

Who is eligible?

All high school students are eligible to apply. We are currently also accepting middle school students, however they will have a second, follow-up application after the first one is received and read. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to resolution.outreachproject@gmail.com directly.

Exchanging writing

A week before the first day of the month, a form will be sent out asking for the submission (submissions are limited to ~2,500 words maximum). On the first of each month, writings will be exchanged through rESOLution project administrators, keeping all individual participants anonymous. Writers will then have until the last day of the month to read and write constructive feedback and notes on the piece; the original author will receive their feedback within the week.*
